Thanks in no small part to my father implementing a strict regiment of 50’s space novels like the Tom Swift series, frequent viewings of The Right Stuff, and a model airplane on every birthday. The result: my hero up until age 12 was Chuck Yeager, the first man to break the sound barrier.
